Used to be.
A long time ago, this kind of thing ever happened.
We keep saying that we can not understand each other.
He'll say his reason and ask to be understood, while I will remain from saying anything because at the end of the dayme the kid, always wrong and he, the father, always right with all his reason being said.
Me, the kid, always have to understand the parent because if we don't, we the perfidious kid.
Me, the kid, is not allowed to point out an argument when the parent is angry, because if we do, we are the always-go-against-the-parent kid. Weird isn't it? How parents can be so self-centered.
What kind of world is it? Real world.
I'm sure, in Indonesia there are a lot soon-to-be dad that will lead a family 'that' way. It's their choice to choose whatever way to nurture their family, but dare I say I'm against it. Why don't we just try to give reasons or explain more to our children so they can understand what we're trying to do, rather than just telling them to do this or that, going against what they're doing, and etc.
Maybe, just maybe.
A father feels like they have to lead the family so they think they need certain kind of image that seems like they're firm, strong, and in control, but I believe there are lots of other way to achieve that image rather than being obtrude. Instead, in my experience the image that being built in the father is stern, rude, patriarcal, and.. as if somehow it left a trauma within me.
May Allah grant me a partner that has same preferences when it comes to nurturing family.
